About the event

Welcome to Builders & Brews!

We host events that promote collaboration in the custom home building industry. Scroll our main page to check out our Origin Story and learn more about our guiding principles.

Enough about us though. Let's talk about our kick-off event here in Arlington!

Event Details

Join us at New District Brewing starting at 4:30pm for networking over BBQ from The BBQ Bus and drinks with like-minded craftspeople; Builders, designers, trades, architects, and suppliers that believe in collaboration over competition.

We've also lined up two speakers for a 30-minute presentation to share the processes they use when working with world-class architects like Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Locati, Revery Architecture, and others.

You’ll leave with valuable insights into the processes that go into building meaningful relationships with world-class architects and cultivating positive working systems that you can apply to your operations the very next day.

We are thrilled to announce that beacuse of generous sponsorship donations (see below), all ticket proceeds are going to Habitat For Humanity North Virginia! One of our pillars at Builders & Brews is Giving Back, and we are proud to support an organization that provides homes for families in Virginia.

There will also be representatives from the Custom Home Builders Council there to talk about membership!

Speaker Bios

Byron Brooks is a custom home builder in Calgary, Alberta. His team at Brookwright Homes have focused on building architecturally considered projects for the past decade. They have found success through focusing on the idea that architects and designers are a key part of the team required to build great projects, rather than an impediment to progress (which is unfortunately the way much of our industry views architectural involvement!)

Graeme Bell is a retired professional Canadian Football player who used his background in finance and real estate to build a high performing team of builders in Edmonton, Alberta. Through the local Alair network Graeme and his partner Monica Affleck oversee the construction of $40 million + of annual construction revenue,  a significant achievement in a town of 1.4 million people!  They achieve this by applying the best practices across the whole construction industry to improve efficiency and the quality of service delivery for their clients.
