About the event

Welcome to Builders & Brews!

We host events that promote collaboration in the custom home building industry. Scroll our main page to check out our Origin Story and learn more about our guiding principles.

Enough about us though. Let's talk about our kick-off event here in Brandon!

Event Details

This event will focus on the importance of educating and training the next generation of builders. Shawn Wood is joining us to share his diverse perspective on leadership and empowering people to do their best work.

As much as we're builders and designers of homes, we also play a major role in shaping the attitudes, perceptions, practices, and craft of our industry––something we can sometimes forget while we're running our business day-to-day!

We'd love for you to come join us for a beer and some new perspectives!

A little more about our speaker:

Shawn has retired after 24+ years of service from the Canadian Armed Forces. Shawn during his military career as an infantryman with the Royal Canadian Regiment and as a supply technician had the opportunity to lead and supervise both soldiers and civilians. He has experience in human resources, supply chain management, planning, contracts, procurement, and finance including budget/business planning.

Shawn was also a trusted advisor to senior leadership as the harassment advisor, ethics coordinator and workplace safety advisor. Shawn has had the opportunity over the past 10 years of dealing with directorate level positions within the federal government daily. Shawn has been the Executive Director of CARM for nearly two years and is actively advocating for CARM’s membership, building partnerships across Manitoba, and recruiting for the construction industry.  Shawn and his wife (Lee Ann) decided after moving across this great nation to settle in Manitoba and lay down roots. Shawn and Lee Ann have two grown children Kirk (23) and Kennedy (21).

See you on the 19th!
