Flagship Event: Collaboration in Craft

Mar 20, 2025 · 6:15 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Celebrating by going back to our origin story!

It's our 6th birthday and our 60th event!

So the most appropriate thing to do is celebrate our roots: The Craft Brewing industry here in Calgary.

By this point, you might know very well how we started, but if not, this video will explain everything.

Collaboration is basically show-and-tell, but all grown up from our kindergarten days. By sharing our stories and our opportunities, we all win. More than simply collaboration, the other parallel that we like to draw between the brewing industry and ours is the craft that goes into both industries' products. Put another way, there is a passion that we all share about the quality of work we provide.

So we're hosting a panel discussion with stakeholders from the craft brewing industry (see below) to keep learning what collaboration looks like in action.

Collaboration and community are critical to the development of ideas and the success of our industry. We hope you'll join us in this spirit on March 20th!

Our panel:

The Accidental Forefather of B&B: Andrew Bullied (and his partner Erica O'Gorman) run the scene at Annex Ales, which is the place where this B&B idea was born. A top 40 under 40 duo, Andrew will be joining us to discuss what support means in the brewing industry, and how collaboration works in action for them.

The Brewery Industry Insider: Mark Kondrat co-founded Alberta Beer Festivals in 2002 and is as wise as anyone about the dynamics of how industries move, shake, jump, and jive together. As he says: "It’s been amazing to see how the beer culture has evolved in Alberta in that time — and I’m proud that we have been a part of it!"

The Brewing Genius: Jen Rogers basically does it all. She brews, promotes, and generally loves beer. She was with Village for the last few years, and is now joining the world of entrepreneurs with her new brewery Wild Winds Brewery! She brings the passion for craft that our community thrives on.

The Host: Jeff Humphries is quietly becoming one of the coolest people in town. He runs Shortline Creative and hosts the podcast every Calgarian should listen to, The Calgary Sessions, where he sits down with local Calgary characters to chat about their roots and where they are today. He hosted one of our previous panels and knows how to flow a conversation as well as anyone in town.

Once again we're at Prairie Dog Brewing and (with the help of our fantastic sponsors) will be providing about 60 kilos of BBQ, along with the first round!
