Calgary Workshop: In Their Shoes

Sep 18, 2026 · 12:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m.

Trading perspectives at different stages of a project

Our mandate with all of our events is collaboration over competition and we hope you'll join us for an afternoon of just that! This workshop is intended to foster better working relationships between builders, designers, trades, and suppliers.

The format is relatively simple! Small-group discussions based around the 3 phases of construction: Pre-, Post-, or Active Construction. Each stakeholder has a very different experience depending on what phase the project is in and by learning those experiences, we can set each other up for success.

We would like to hear from everyone about what those experiences are and how they could be improved. Leading questions like those below will help to provide a better picture of the custom-home construction process.

Sample questions to be explored:

  • What is part of the build budget? Who coordinates?
  • Does this phase of a project cost you money or make you money?
  • What do you value about the other stakeholders at this stage?
  • What’s the best project handover that you’ve been a part of? The worst?

Lastly: we will ask for the help of a few registrants to present our findings at our Flagship event the following week! By no means is that required, but the idea is that we will share our takeaways with the rest of the community so that we can improve the work of more industry members. No gate-keeping!
